Research Area Summary:
Three forms of Flaxseed & Ragi was studied for their pharmacognostic properties for determining the presence of various phytoconstituents. The three forms of flaxseed & Ragi like sprouted, roasted and crude were then determined for the variation in the quantity of protein, fats, moisture content, carbohydrates. It was observed that the sprouted form of both ragi & flaxseed contained highest proportion of protein as compared to the crude and roasted. Thus the sprouted form of the seeds can be used in daily consumption as an added source of protein to combat the deficiency of protein in population.
