Research Summary :

As a computer science faculty her primary research focus remains to utilize IT technology for effective management and improved consumer experience. Prof. Kulkarni has written research papers and completed her Doctorate (PhD) research intending to benefit society, companies and government. One of the research papers is on understanding challenges in implementing smart city projects in Pune. The findings of which proved the challenges in not having clarity about a smart city project, one which helps citizens implement. Another research work was on the adoption of electronic payment systems by senior citizens. It was furthered by identifying what problems are faced by senior citizens while adopting electronic payment systems. The findings were that the senior citizens are unwilling to use the electronic payment system, however, the complexity is a major obstacle for them. Prof. Pooja has also studied security related issues in mobile applications from a user perspective in another research paper. She has also written papers on BI and cloud computing. She has studied mobile financial transactions and consumer behaviour in rural and urban users. Her Doctorate (PhD) topic was ‘An Analysis of Electronic Payment and Security in Online Financial Applications concerning User Behavior in the Selected Region of Maharashtra State’. The research was based on the TAM model (Technology Acceptance Model) proposed by Davis in 1969. She has studied security issues in financial transactions through cell phones and proposed a preventive mechanism to take care of security issues.
