Research Summary :

The research focuses on the comprehensive study of phytoconstituents—bioactive compounds derived from plants—through advanced methodologies in isolation, identification, and analysis. The primary objective is to explore the metabolic pathways in higher plants to understand the biogenetic origins of various secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and volatile oils. These metabolites hold significant pharmacological potential, making their detailed study crucial for the development of new therapeutic agents.Isolation techniques involve the separation of these compounds from complex plant matrices, ensuring their purity and potency for further study. Identification processes employ cutting-edge technologies like spectroscopy and chromatography to precisely determine the chemical structures of these isolated compounds. This identification is pivotal in linking specific phytoconstituents to their corresponding biological activities, which can lead to the discovery of novel drug candidates.The analysis of phytoconstituents involves both qualitative and quantitative assessment, focusing on understanding their role in the plant’s defense mechanisms and their potential therapeutic applications in human health. This research not only aims to enhance the scientific understanding of these compounds but also seeks to contribute to the industrial production and utilization of phytoconstituents in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and cosmeceuticals.
